Come celebrate with us at our 40th Annual Open House, Saturday, April 8, 2017. This is a very special yearly event for the children, their families, the staff, alumnae and all who are connected with the school. If this is your first year, you may wonder why it is so special.
One of the important benefits of the Open House is that it strengthens the tie between the child’s family and the school which is essential for enhancing children’s learning as well as family well-being. Recent studies have shown the importance of family involvement in early educational experiences in predicting a child’s success in school. Anne Sullivan School works to develop partnerships with families through parent/teacher conferences, parent involvement in curriculum themes, parents’ participation in the classroom and of course, by having the Annual Open House.
At the Open House, you and your family and friends will see the study topic and work that your child has been participating in during the past few months. Your child will be able to show you the projects the class have created and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment seeing your interest in what she/he is doing at school. This will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions like, “How does a plant grow?” “Tell me about this building.” “How did you make this “machine?”
There will also be time to visit the Children’s Garden, walk on the school’s beautiful grounds, and enjoy refreshments.
We welcome you all and thank you in advance for coming. If you would like to help, there will be a sign-up sheet in each classroom for 30 minute set up and clean up jobs that we need help with and a list of foods to bring if you would like to contribute. See you there!
