It’s almost time for our annual Trike-a-Thon benefiting St. Jude’s Hospital, and we need your support!
Preparations are underway at Anne Sullivan School for the big event, which will take place the morning of Friday, March 17th. All students are invited to participate – even if they are not scheduled to attend on Fridays.
Please check your child’s class for the time their classroom will be riding the trikes, (or scooters or bikes). The posted notice will also include where to leave your child’s tricycle and helmet. Every year, the children enjoy riding the course, which circles around the school buildings. It is safe and fun – and challenging for the younger children.
The funds that the children raise will help St. Jude Hospital treat the world’s sickest children – free of charge- in their battles with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Past donations have helped St. Jude develop protocols to increase overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent to more than 80 percent today!
Two weeks before the event, the children will be learning safety habits with Bikewell Bear and Pedals the Bunny, as well as learn one way of caring for the children who are sick in the community. Children who participate will not only have a good time, they will work on developing their muscles for strength and endurance. Everyone wins!
Parent Volunteers are needed to help with the event. Signup sheets for Volunteers will be placed on the sign-in/sign-out clip board in each classroom. Please check your parent file for Trike-a-Thon information packets – including how to make donations (online by check) as well as different prizes your child will receive according to the amount of money the child raises.
We look forward to this year’s Trike-a-Thon!
